Best dim sum in all of Chinatown - and affordable too! Each piece is ~$1 or less. Dim sum orders can be ordered outside via a window, and you can order as early as 9am. Main entrees are not available until about 90 minutes after opening. They have a lot for a few parking spaces as well, but there are plenty of cheap parking lots in the area, in addition to street parking. I really like the har gow and shu mai for dim sum. For entrees, I really like the beef chow mein with crispy noodle. Service here can be slow when they are really busy - which happens quite often. I would suggest ordering takeout if you want to get your food within 15 minutes of ordering (even at the busiest times), but the con is how long you may have to wait in line. Try placing an order via phone if you are able, but do not be surprised if they do not pick up right away or put you on hold for a long time.

Cheap and good quality dimsum! The line was long! Expect at least a 20 min wait for take out orders. I really like how they have chicken shumai as a option and not just pork. They also offer different baked pastries that are not seen at some dimsum places. This place is also good if you want to try some items or just have a small appetite. You order each item by pieces so you can just have one sesame ball or one shumai if you like!! Will be coming back for some quick dimsum fix!

One of my favorite things about this page is being able to buy dim sum by the piece. You can get as much or as little as you want for an affordable price. Line does get pretty long, especially on the weekends so I recommend going early. You get a piece of paper at the front write down how many pieces of each item you want. My go to's are the pork shu mai, bbq pork steamed & baked buns, ham sui gok, sesame ball, and curry chicken puff.

*** Dim Sum Takeout *** Each time I visit Chinatown, I always see a long line on dim sum takeout window at Won Kok Restaurant. The restaurant has been opened since 1976. Recently I had a chance to stop by and tried their dim sum. [Parking]: Metered parking on N Spring St - $0.50 per hour. [Order]: Won Kok Restaurant has your typical dine-in setting as well as the popular dim sum takeout window. There's a separate line for dim sum takeout and the window opens from 9 AM to 9 PM. I waited in line for 15 minutes and wrote down my order on a paper ordering sheet. *** Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow - $0.90): Dough had a thick skin and tasted meh at best. Pork Dumpling (Shu Mai - $0.80) and BBQ Pork Bun ($1.00): Both items were better than har gow. They were pretty decent and flavors were on the point. Egg Custard (aka Egg Tart - $1.50): Best order out of the four and dough had soft & flaky texture. *** This is one of those places you come for late night drunk food. Each dim sum items are reasonably priced, but tasted mostly alright when you are sober with no particular items that really stood out.

When you're in Chinatown the first thing I crave is some authentic dim sum! After walking along the streets I noticed there was a huge line to a dim sum spot. I've never tried Won Kok before so I thought I'd give this place an try. Try have indoor dining and takeout. If you're going through the takeout line outside, the menu to make your selection is actually inside the restaurant. Go in through the side door. It's on a rip-able pad. If only they posted this instruction somewhere! Make sure to have a pen handy to make your selections. Try are sold by each piece and not by a an 'order' meaning not 3 or 4 for the price of one. A single bun is around $1.50 and shu mai is $0.80 each(pretty small though ). The baked bbq pork bun for $1.50 is pretty hefty and filling. The takeout menu is very limited so there's no rice rolls , the egg custard filling buns or chicken feet! Heads up the jumbo cream buns are just buns filled with cream topped with coconut flakes on top. Overall this place is ok. If you want some quick dim sum this place is a place to try. Lines are long though. P.S. write your name or something on you ordering sheet or else they call out a price as your order... so my name is six ninety ($6.90).
